Distillation, Natures Purifier, How does distillation work?

You keep hearing from health experts that to maintain optimum health, you need to drink only distilled water. But what exactly is distilled water, and what is the process that makes it?

  1. Steam distillation of water, as with our Running Waters distillers, is the only process that mimics Mother Nature's own process to purify water. In nature, water is constantly renewed by the process of evaporation and precipitation, and our process is similar. Just hook your new Running Waters distiller up and plug it in, and see what happens next.

  2. Tap water is passed through the carbon pre-filter.

  3. The float valve in the boiling chamber allows a predetermined amount of water from your tap into the boiling chamber.

  4. The water is heated, creating steam.

  5. The steam is passed through the radiator, recondensing to water.

  6. When the storage tank is filled to a predetermined amount, the distiller is automatically shut off.

  7. When you have taken a certain amount of water out of the storage tank (about 1 gallon) the unit switches back on until it is filled. The junk that was in your water is left in the boiler, to be cleaned out occasionally. You'll be amazed at what was in your water.
Is my water safe to drink? Below are answers to the questions we are receiving from our clients.

I want to take a moment to answer some of the questions we are getting from so many of our clients. These are questions that are likely on the mind of so many others that just have not had the time to call or email. Ever since the horrific events of September 11 we have received a deluge of calls and emails where we are asked what to do to ensure the safety of their family's drinking water in the event of contamination of their local water supply.

Many of those who have contacted us have prefaced their question with the disclaimer that they know they are probably being silly to be worried- well I can assure you that you are not alone in your concerns. There is an old saying, "better safe than sorry" that I think certainly applies in this case.

In answer to their questions, and yours- yes, the Running Waters Distillation System will provide you with safe drinking water. Even in the event of contamination to the supply that feeds the system, your drinking water will be safe.

The process of distillation, in conjunction with pre-treatment with a carbon filter will remove all the biological and chemical contaminants that our clients have mentioned that they are concerned about, so set your mind at ease. The only additional precaution that I would mention is to be certain to change your carbon pre-filter on a regular basis (every 6 months usually suffices) as some chemical components are removed at that stage and not during distillation.

As always we stand ready to answer any other questions you may have regarding your drinking water. Please contact us by email or telephone at our offices from 8am to 5pm CST.

Distilled Water Why a Running Waters Distiller?

John Trappey
President, Running Waters

When you consider purchasing a distiller from Running Waters, you are considering making a significant economic contribution for your family's health. You are probably thinking to yourself, "Give me one good reason for spending all this money on a distiller." Well, I'll give you several:

  1. Distilling water is the only way to ensure the quality of your drinking water- 100% of the time. Distillation is the only method of producing drinking water perfected by Mother Nature over millions of years. Our Running Waters distiller uses the same process of evaporation and condensation found within nature. We just use modern technology to speed up the process.

  2. Distilling at home puts you ahead in the long run. The Running Water residential distillers cost about $0.12 per gallon to operate. You can do the math, depending on how much bottled water you use, you could be coming out ahead sooner rather than later.

  3. Convenience - no more bottles to carry from the store, no more remembering to put the empties out. You always have water when you need it. Most of our clients also find that when they have a convenient replenishing supply of distilled water they use it for more than just drinking. They start using it for all their cooking, pets' drinking water, etc.

  4. Health benefits- If you're reading this you're already concerned about the quality of your drinking water, see the article on drinking water quality issues in this newsletter.

  5. Dependability- We take our business seriously. For 27 years, we have manufactured nothing but the very highest quality water treatment equipment. We have satisfied customers in almost every country of the world, and we'll make sure you are satisfied too. If you have a problem (which I doubt;), we'll still be here to take care of it, for another 27 years at least.
